How the Base route works
Base and Robinhood Chain are both EVM Layer 2 networks on top of Ethereum, so this route moves funds sideways between two L2s rather than down from mainnet. The wallet that signs can also receive: connect MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or Rabby, pick ETH, USDC or USDT, and review the live quote for an intent-based route provided via Relay — deposit on Base, delivery on Robinhood Chain. By default the recipient is the connected wallet's own address; a different EVM recipient can be set, with the full address shown for confirmation before it is used. There is no direct canonical bridge between Base and Robinhood Chain — they are separate rollups, and the canonical path would mean exiting through Ethereum L1 first — so a liquidity-backed route like this is the direct path, and it only exists while liquidity is available.
Why this is usually the cheapest source
Origin gas on Base is typically a small fraction of a dollar, which changes the economics of small transfers: where Ethereum mainnet gas can dominate the cost of a $50 bridge, on Base the quote is mostly the route's bridge cost and price impact where a swap is involved. If you hold the same asset on both Ethereum and Base, comparing the two quotes takes a minute and the difference on small amounts is usually visible immediately. ERC-20 inputs (USDC, USDT) may take two signatures — an approval, then the deposit — while native ETH takes one; approval gas on Base is as cheap as everything else there.

ETH, for every asset on this route today. ETH arrives as ETH; USDC and USDT are converted and delivered as ETH, with the rate, price impact and minimum received stated in the quote before you sign. USDG may become a selectable output in a future update. Since ETH pays gas on Robinhood Chain, funds arrive ready to move — no separate top-up needed.
Fees and timing on this route
Liquidity on the Base–Robinhood Chain pair is real but varies more than on the Ethereum route, so treat the minimum received line in the quote as the number to check: a route can quote well for one amount and worse for a larger one at the same moment. If a large amount quotes poorly, compare the totals — quote a smaller amount or wait and re-quote, and weigh the received amounts and fees against each other rather than accepting the impact by default. If something looks wrong
If no quote comes back at all, the usual cause is momentary liquidity for your amount — try a smaller amount or try again shortly. If the bridge shows pending past the estimate, check the deposit on a Base explorer (basescan.org): failed there means the transfer never started; confirmed means the route is executing, and the recipient address at robinhoodchain.blockscout.com is where delivery lands. A delivered balance that is not visible in the wallet usually means Robinhood Chain (chain ID 4663, RPC https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com) is not added yet — the explorer is the ground truth.
